Mysterious eggs

#1
At least I think these are eggs... We found these little dots in the columbine library tank a few weeks ago. they are about 2 mm across and white, until recently when I few black dots appeared in the middle of them. I tried to attach some pictures, one is for scale and the other is a close up with the black spots. Just posting to see if anyone knows what these are, thanks.

+1 they look like nerite snail eggs. They only hatch in brackish water so they won't be viable in your tank. At least they're on your rocks and not all over the glass. :)

Another possibility is that you are looking at a tunicate, though it's hard to tell from the pictures. Harvest one and place it under higher magnification. Tunicates are sessile animals with a vent and a notochord. Doesn't look like a bryophyte, but could be sponge. As the previous posters indicated, it could also be an egg, however it seems very large to me and they would break down over a few days. I'm guessing that these have been there for a while and that the general structure doesn't change.. Worth further investigation, but a closer photo or description of the critter is needed.

+2 to nerite snail eggs. great snails but the eggs are mainly decorations since they only hatch in low salinity.
