Concerned that even with the 125, I'm not going to have enough/good enough pod production for a big mandarin and other natural predators. I've been pretty clueless on cope/amphipods. Generally was just a "there's a bunch in the rubble in sump/DT". Over time they seem to have drastically fallen off. Primarily to my melanarus I thought and who knows what else. I figured just stuff 125 refugium full of chaeto/caulerpa and rubble as well as in my other tanks. (Build some pod condo's of rubble/caulerpa and occasionally shake them off in the big DT). I think to produce good numbers that might take too long esp with ongoing predation in DT. (I had no clue about feeding phyto to encourage more growth?)

This brought me to growing my own in spare tanks (and the phyto to feed them?). So I saw a little bit online and trying to learn on my own, but was looking for someone that could verbally go over it and possibly have samples I could get started with.

I've got some panamensis that I culture currently, also if you need help on trying to figure out how to culture pods, look on the MBI. We have TONS of journals on all the species you would ever need. I got some panam from Bush's store on the SCMAS, CoralXpressions.

I've also got some T-Isocrysis algae as well. I will get back to Colorado in about a week though, I have to go up to the MBI Conference in michigan, but hit me up afterwards if you want any and I can give some to you

Any kind of micro food can help pod growth - feeding the fish is typically enough to keep a healthy population.

Are your nitrates and phosphates in check? Any elevation can really hurt the pods themselves and their food. Carbon dosing, GFO and GAC can hurt if you are wanting a lot of pods.

FWIW - dead acro skeletons make really good pod condominiums.

Btw I cultured mine in 5g buckets and I can get a pretty big culture, now yes I do use mine for raising fry and such, but that doesn't mean it can't be used in a tank. I've got a culture just for feeding my tank's corals, fish, etc.
