So i just drove to town yesterday, still havent seen my tank and disaster has struck. I guess the heater got stuck on for at least 24 hours at 95degF and everything in my tank boiled yesterday. Most of the fish are ok, but the corals are pretty much all gone. Only time with tell with everything though.

But does anyone have a heater I can use for a week or two while I order a new heater.

And then to prevent this kind of tragedy, can someone help me find a controller that help prevent this kind of thing from happening.

Im going to go see my tank for the first time in 2.5 months, i just feel sick :(

I have one but won't be back in town until late tomorrow night. If you a still in Parker and want to swing by to grab it, I think we should be home from the airport around 830?

Cheers!

total water volume is probably 65 gals

And I said I had wanted to go in a new direction, I guess now is my golden opportunity. However, I feel horrible because I had so many corals I was going to DBTC away.

T-minus an hour until I see can the tank, i still have no idea how it all looks

You are prob the 4th person I have heard of cooking their tank this year, I'm going to have to buy a controller! Sorry to hear about your tank!

I know many people who don't even run a heater this time of year and I have not ran one in the past during the summer. A reef keeper lite would be a good basic controller for your heater.

Sorry to hear about what happened. One of my tanks got up to 91 during those triple digit days and had nothing to do with the heater. I ended up with 3 fish and a couple shrimp.

To address one of your questions earlier, the Reefkeeper lite has a temp probe and the ability to be programmed to turn off the heater once a set temp is reached and can also turn off lights and turn on fans or chillers.

Craigar, ive sent you a pm. I will for sure purchase that from you.

All the fish made it, so in that way I am extremely lucky, but most of my corals are gone. All the SPS, all my LPS except for a duncan and plate coral, and the softies look like super hell.

Ambrosio, Reefkoi, Jgonzz, and The Coral Shop will all be at the swap :). Sorry about the losses, I'm sure many of us have felt the pain in the past :(

Paying for the equipment has cleaned me out :( unless someone has a Rittiri (sp?) nem there. Then I might dig a bit into my pockets.
