Hmm. If I hadn't just gotten rid of most of my extra equipment I'd take him. Do you have a sump? Put some live rock in there and the mantis once you catch him. They don't like a lot of light, it'll actually kill them. I could probably throw together a temp house for him if you have to get rid of him and can't find it a home.

Oh yea, the trap. A lot of guys say just find the rock they are going in and pull it out. Run some RO water on the rock, that's in a bucket, and he should come out. Take out the rock and use a net to catch him. You'll need something ready to throw him in. Or, if you don't like that rock just pull it and put in a bucket of saltwater. Let me know if you can't find him another home.

I could keep it in one of my tanks that are setup right now for you Drew until you get something setup. I have a 125 & a 55 setup right now with just sand and a couple rocks. Would be easy to get him out when you're ready.

Thanks man. I really want a bigger tank with one of these guys in the sump. Let see if he can catch it alive and we'll go from there.

Cause They are cool to watch/feed but will kill other things in your tank. They are smashers so normally only go after crabs, snails and the like but they will go after fish. They really need to be in their own tank or sump.

Keep him in the sump. For more info go on Reef Central and post in the mantis section. Might be a smithii, but I'm not that good at id'ing them.

Glad you caught him.
