Ok so the question of the day I'm getting my plan together for my basement sump and am debating on weather to plumb my two tanks together my reef and my fowler.
Pros
The pump I'm wanting to get for my return can run both tanks
Larger water volume
Larger sump for fowler
Easier water changes
One skimmer
One tipoff

Cons
If I get a parasite it will be in both tanks
Have to use same salt in both tanks
Dosing would be dosing the whole two tank water volume(100 gallon difference)

Give me your thoughts please
Total water volume if plumbed together is going to be around 600 gallons ai will be plumbing frag tanks in with the reef tank no matter what

I like my frag tanks plumbed In with my tank since my frags are for me and not for sale. If I was going to sell coral I think I would seperate them thats just my .02. I think I would leave your fish only seperate like said if you get something you can treat the fish only tank.
