Hey guys just wondering if anybody in the community has a seahorse tank? and if you do what kind? Has it been a challenge? Been wanting to maybe set one up but was wanting to get a little more background on them.

I have one. Link: http://www.marinecolorado.org/forums/showthread.php?26058-Seth-s-104g-Rimless-cube

I currently have H. Erectus seahorses.

I am not sure if it has been a challenge or I am getting extremely lucky. I have had 4 seahorses, 2 banded pipefish, 2 ausi dragon face pipes, and 1 hector goby. They have all been doing very well. The main thing I recomend doing is having the ability to remove a large amount of waste from the tank. So IMO a tank with a large sump and skimmer is a must. In my case for my tank, I have a 70g refugium and a bubble magus nac 6 that I have to empty pretty much daily from the waste of frozen food sitting in the tank. But other than that, all the sea horses I got from Great White Aquatics and they have all been eating well. But do lots of reading before you get your seahorses. They do require daily care.

dwarf seahorses are about 2x as hard as regular sea horses. As you have yo make your own live brine to feed them. Yah I wouldn't use a 14 biocube for a sea horse tank. You will have to siphon out the excess food after feeding as you cannot get a skimmer big enough for a 14g biocube.

I would do at least a 29 high with a 20 long sump.
