Hi everyone. Just had the cord break off of my AI Nero 5 on my 10 gallon. AI says they will fix it but I have to ship it off and it'll be a couple weeks before I get it back. Thoughts on my mixed reef staying alive without that flow for that period of time. Should I just pick up another Nero and have one spare?

Pumps are one of those things I always like to have a back up for, although you could maybe just do a small cheap one as a backup. Just need something to keep the surface of the water moving really

I can point my return pump at the surface to increase the flow a little bit but maybe I just buy a crap power head for a couple weeks

Go on the marketplace or CL and see if you can find a $10 powerhead. Maybe you will get lucky and find a tunze pump since they last a long time.

I would not EVER keep AI, EcoTech, MaxSpec or the like on hand as a backup... then the warranty runs out while it is in the box. It is not like any of these are super long lasting.
