I'm getting hardwood floors and want to know what you guys think I could put under my stand for protection. Any suggestions?

how about a pond liner with a rug over it - then the tank? that way anything that makes it through the rug will get trapped between rug and liner. This assumes your not talking about a flood situation, in which IMO there is nothing you can do but keep fingers crossed :p

At the very least get an alarm so you know when the water hits the floor. Have a fan handy... Definitely have your stand raised above the floor a tiny bit to get air underneath. Lots of towels during maintenance. We all know water gets on the floor. I thought infused my bam u floors a couple summers ago! The fan on them fixed it in a hurry.
