Random fish death

So came down from sleeping after my night shift and look at my biocube to feed my 2 clownfish and both of them are dead... I can't remember if I saw them this am but I know I saw them alive and well, eating fat and healthy before I left for work yesterday night.

No ammonia, nitrite nitrites... Apex says temperature fine and ph hasn't changed from normal cycle.
Clowns have been the only fish in there for 6 months except for corals.

All of my coral look fine even the 3 pieces of sps I have.

Yeah... Idk I'm at a loss.

Sorry for your loss :(

Does your bio have a lid? If not, did they jump? Any stray voltage?

I'm with the folks above - when fish are dying and corals seem fine, it's almost always electrical. There were times that I got no shock or tingle of any kind until I put a 2nd finger in the water.
It sucks when you lose the first fish you ever got. Sorry to hear this.

I heard that you can get a system to take voltage out of the tank. Does anyone have one of those? I know they sell them at Elite. Sorry about your fish.

Does not exist. If something is leaking voltage, the source must be dealt with. They make titanium grounding problems that will protect YOU if a piece of equipments seal fails and puts 120V on the tank. The drawback of these is that your fish would be completely unharmed by that piece of equipment failing without the grounding probe (if you have the tank on a wood stand), and some may get electrocuted with it in place, but usually it will trip your gfci before that happens.

I had an mj1200 that was spewing voltage into my tank too a few weeks ago. I was getting zapped through a cut on my finger when I touched the waters surface.

The mj1200s are garbage. I have had two fail on me and shock the living **** out of me before they were even 2 years old. One even leached copper in the tank, and fortunately I had cuprisorb on hand to pull it out before all my corals died.

What do you guys suggest for replacements.... Disappointed these weren't the marineland crap mjs they were the cobalt
I've had good luck with eheim compacts. The mjs I had trouble with were the Marineland type, so the cobalt may not be as prone to issues.

Big +1 to the Ehiems. They are more expensive but they are rock solid.
