Does anyone know what I am trying to describe? The algae is a deep red color and it is shaped like very small rectangles. They multiply like crazy and can easily be blown off the rock with a small amount of current. Please help me identify this and also how to treat it.

Thank you very much!

+1 on the wrasse. Most likely not the acro eating variety.

I had a bad outbreak if flatworms a few years ago. I picked up a Hoeven's wrasse and a 6 line wrasse.. have not seen one since!

I had a terrible outbreak. Took all live rock out and dosed w flatworm exit and then dosed the tank. Added a six line and will b adding a yellow choris still too.

Hoeven's Wrasse is a beautiful, reef safe choice, took care of my flatworm issue almost overnight and whenever I add new coral to the tank he makes sure there's no hitchhikers, a real model citizen, one of my favorite fish

If you are close to Longmont, I can make you up a solution of Levamisole that will kill them. Flatworm Exit is Levamisole. Send me a PM if you want some... I have more Levamisole that I could ever use in a lifetime (I hope).

Repeated treatment and removal of the dead planaria is key. You can use a fine net to get them out once they start to die. If you get some from Doug I am sure he will cover the treatment regiment.
