Question to you all. What substrates do you all use in your refugiums? I would like your opinions on why you chose what substrate you are using and why you think it is better than another substrate.

Any fine grain sand or mud will work well. Avoid crushed coral as it will turn your fuge into a nitrate factory and doesnt promote microfauna growth well. Personally I have had the best results with fine grain aragonite sand that I use in my display. Mud seemed to do a little better with nitrates but not as well with microfauna growth.
