do any of you guys know if u should run an di cartridge with a ro system? I have heard once you add salt to the water that u have just un done the di part of the system. if that is the case I see no reason I should be running the di cartridge. if so what should I replace it with or should I just leave it empty?

The DI part of the system is what removes phosphates and other nutrients from the water. If you remove the DI unit you wil likely start seeing phosphates build up in the system and likely lead to a hair algae problem

Whoever told you this obviously understands what di does but does not know much about saltwater aquariums. Yes adding anything back to di water will "undo the di part" as well as the pre filter, carbon, and ro parts. Lol that not why you use di. Think of it this way. You want your rodi product to be like a blank canvas completely devoid of anything. This way when you add your salt mix and any other trace elements you know exactly whats in the sea water you are putting into the tank. Di is your best and last line of defense for your ro system to remove any phospates, ammonia, heavy metals, etc that might be in your tap water. Di is especially important for removing the ammonia cat ion left over from the carbon filter when stripping out the chlorine side of chloramine.
