#1

i find it weird that the rocks are just falling know so any ideas that might help would be great
is there anything that could be moving the rocks ( critters ) that is

I wonder if it's the "sand sifting" stars moving the sand around near the rocks? These could be your culprits.

I don't think so but you may want to get him out before it gets too big. Put it in your sump if you have one. Mystery you have there.

yeah, if you have a gorilla crab... just get him out on general principle.
Otherwise, I'd blame a turbo snail. Those things are bulldozers.

your guess is as good as mine. good luck, tho. If I thought there was a gorilla crab in my tank, I'd rip the thing apart to get him out because they eat corals.

true... If you are in the early stages of rock scaping then I would yank out some rock and check each piece. I have used coral dip to make them come out of rock before. Takes about 10 minutes for them to get irritated enough to want to leave the rock.

Could be serpant star as well. The like to get up int he rocks and wedge themselves in and such.

I have never seen my stars do that but it is possible.
What type of coral dip are you using if you don't mind.
the thing that is getting me is I have never had a problem like this before
this rock has been in my tanks for 3 yrs know.
the other thing is could my emerald crabs be doing this

Almost anything, turbo snails, serpent stars and crabs, can tip unstable rocks over. We use the TLF (two little fishies) Revive for rock dipping. You may have to use some acrylic rod to help stabilize some of your rocks. Good luck.

As far as securing, I thought I had some rod of sort laying around. But I recall an article talking about you can't superglue rock to rock, but a sandwhich of Rock, glue, putty, glue, rock. Working well?

+1 to the turbo or gorilla/emerald crab. If it wiggles and they can move it slightly... ive seen them stay persistent enough until it falls over or moves. maybe go get a rock or 2 from the sump or store or CL and hammer it down to small pieces, pick up the rocks you have and place the smaller bits underneath to make the 'scape sturdier. I always put 2 layers of eggcrate down at the base of my tank and when i stick my base rock down i break the top layer so the rocks will basically NEVER move.

after i had a scare with my 55 and a sandsifter shifting a base rock and almost cracking the front glass of my 55, i said "never again."

I always set my base rock directly on the glass bottom. I use flat shelf peices and and then stack on these, I then push the sand back in and around everything.

I dont use too much glue or epoxy, only if I have to and Ive never had rocks fall.
