Some people use cheap "throw away" stock to help tanks cycle faster, they think.

Do they breed in salt? Was thinking about getting some broodstock for treats for the predator tank but couldn't find any info on offspring viability in saltwater.

I used to breed them in my QT to feed as treats to my eels, I had 3 generations before I quit. They don't handle flow very well so I kept them from the main tanks unless I was feeding. IME if you put them in a tank with higher flow they find a low flow spot and hunker down there. I usually corralled a few at a time into a breeder net and loaded them up with selcon soaked NLS pellets before dropping them into my eel tank.
