Some days I hate this Hobby!

So in the last few weeks I have started to get some of my corals and fish back from the folks who were kind enough to hold them for me while I moved. When I picked up a bunch of my corals from a friend there was a fair amount of the sps / lps that had receded substantially. So Monday I trimmed most of the dead skeletons away. Last two nights everything looked great. So I got home last night and found almost all the sps / lps in the frag tank to be skeletons. The only things that are still holding on are the duncans (which look better than they have) and a scoly. All the zoas and ricordias looked fine.

I lost 3 really nice chalices, several nice favias, montipora setosa and several other sps.

What gives!!! :yell::mad3::yell::mad3:

Rant over.....

Thanks Charlie!

Has been running since mid November. All tests showed no Nh3, No2 or No3. No rock or sand in the tank it has the Emperor 400 bio wheel HOB filter system.

Maybe the tests have gone bad? Recently my basic tests started to show odd results so I replaced them.

I'm right there with you. Monti eating nudis... I ripped out some of my favorite corals last night including my tyree flowerpot monti colony that I had almost since day 1. This hobby can be frustrating for sure.

Not likely since they were brand new and showed same results as the big tank which has several fish doing quite well.

I have a monti setosa I can frag for you. If you come up to Greeley you could stop here and Charlie's. Definitely hook you up.

Thanks for the offers I'm going to let the tank settle for a bit and be sure it's all good before getting anymore coral. I'll let you guys know when I might be ready.

I'm still suspicious of our water even with ro/di my corals just don't multiply like they should. My tests all look fine too. For the rest of you we live in the same area and get our water from wells. My tank has been set up for two yrs. ZOA's and palys look pretty good some mushrooms look good others not so good.

Wow Tony I had no idea you had the saltwater addiction too?!!! Small world.

I do run an ro/DI for all my water but I'll keep that in mind since you have been out here longer than me.

I think we all hate this hobby when things go wrong, and losing several fish/coral is the worst! I have helped a few friends start up saltwater tanks...and you quickly find out if they truly are into the hobby or not when things go wrong.
