Storing a tank

Ok guys have a couple questions. As some of you know I'm picking up a 120g tank this weekend. It probably won't be setup for about a year or so, so it's going to sit for a while. Here's my questions:

1. Is it better to store the tank sitting on the bottom as normal, or on it's side?
2. How should I prep the skimmer and other equipment for storage? Should I clean with water/vinegar then store?
3. How should I kill the liverock? Since it'll be so long before I set it back up I figured this would be the best thing to do with the rock.

Thanks for all your help guys.

Just out of curiosity why you waiting so long to set it up?

I would store the tank as it normally sits.
Tge skimmer and pumps I woul fill your tank with like 8 inches of water poor a half gallon of vinigar in it put all pumps and skimmers in it and let them run for a day or two then take them out and take the pumps apart and rinse off with regular water.
The live rock and stuff I personally would either sell off as live rock or start cooking in and do the muratic acid and baking soda tger let sit out in the sun for a few days to sun bleach it.

Or you could just set tge tank up now :) and not worry

Thanks guys. The tank isn't going to be set back up right away because it's a streatch to even get it now. Muchless the powerheads and lights that will be needed to get it going at my house. I'll look at selling the rock, though it seems like a lot of people are selling live rock lately.

Hopefully I can take my time and get everything needed to setup a very nice tank the first time.

You are doing it right, take your time. I am taking my sweet time with my 280 build and it has been the nicest build I have done. I have found great deals on equipment and it should be very nice when done.

If you're coming to the swap on the 25th you might keep an eye out for equipment there.

Do not put it directly on the gound or cement it may stress the corners and cause it to split when you fill it with water, store it on the stand, the o rings int the pumps may dry out over the years span they sit. Notice if you buy them new they will have a light amount of grease on them .
