Don't know about who sell the media locally, but any reactor will do, you just need to be able to adjust the output from one drop a sec, to a very slow stream. I have been running one on and off for more than 5 years. I keep coming back to it since there is no easier set and forget way to keep No3 in check, IMO. However know it's evil twin brother PO4 needs to be addressed as well. I use seaklear drip, and GFO (which I regenerate) for those two. Good luck.

could I take a old ro filter and run it as a media reactor ?
take out the membranes and micron filters ?
sulfur lasts indefinitely just needs toped off , yes ?
any photos of your set up?
