Hello All,
As one of the longest running members of the club I felt it is time for me to step up and say somthing that has been bothering me for awhile. Since 1998,'99 I have seen this club grow and do some great things and not so great things. But in the past six months or so, I have seen some things that I think as a club we need to step back and take a good look in the mirror. I am seeing more and more arguing and fighting among club members and some non members (ie, users of the forum). "REMEMBER THIS IS A HOBBY!"
I think, as a club, we need to STOP! If one has a problem with a member then they should try to come up with a solution to their problems via PM or off the fourm first. If no solution can be reached, then leave appropriate feed back in "The Feed Back Forum." Most of us have each others numbers or can PM each other. There is no need to cause mass chaos in threads due to a disagreements. Please, try to handle it and take care of problems/conflicts off the froum first! I understand that there are many personalities and we will not always get along, but lets try.
The second issue that is bothering me is the classified threads. 1. I see people getting heated about how a deal went down. This should be "first com-first serve". If you did not get it, sorry, keep looking. If a deal didn't go as planned or the item is not what it should be, then leave it in "The Feed Back Fourm." 2. As a member, if you choose to sell items on multiple forums (Craig's list, MASC, etc), then do so with respect and etiquette. Please communicate appropriately and respectfully to the members.
As a member, if you have ideas and suggestions on improvements to the forum, please post in the Idea Thread or the Feedback Forum. It is not appropriate to post forum complaints in other threads.
Look, this goes for all of us,, myself included. If we don't stop the petty stupid fighting and arguing, we will NEVER be a successful club and will NEVER get a national event like MCNA! Additionally, we will never receive quality reconition national/international opportunities to host an event like this. I want MACNA and events like REEF ED to come back to Denver, but that will never happen if we don't change are ways (perceptions, communication, and negativity). I know that we are being watched by many National Events that would love to hold events with us or at least in Denver. Trust me, several years ago while watching the boards there was so much negativity and complaining that things did not go well for us.
Please, lets work together and help each other in this hobby that we love! I have seen too many good people leave and I would to love to get some of them back, I know of a few that keep an eye on us but will not come back because of the issues that I have mentioned!
Also, a good member will support the BOD, you don't have to always agree with them, but support them!
Remember this is a hobby first and a club second! "THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN!"
Thanks, and Happy Reefing!![Big Grin :D :D](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
