Hello All,

As one of the longest running members of the club I felt it is time for me to step up and say somthing that has been bothering me for awhile. Since 1998,'99 I have seen this club grow and do some great things and not so great things. But in the past six months or so, I have seen some things that I think as a club we need to step back and take a good look in the mirror. I am seeing more and more arguing and fighting among club members and some non members (ie, users of the forum). "REMEMBER THIS IS A HOBBY!"

I think, as a club, we need to STOP! If one has a problem with a member then they should try to come up with a solution to their problems via PM or off the fourm first. If no solution can be reached, then leave appropriate feed back in "The Feed Back Forum." Most of us have each others numbers or can PM each other. There is no need to cause mass chaos in threads due to a disagreements. Please, try to handle it and take care of problems/conflicts off the froum first! I understand that there are many personalities and we will not always get along, but lets try.

The second issue that is bothering me is the classified threads. 1. I see people getting heated about how a deal went down. This should be "first com-first serve". If you did not get it, sorry, keep looking. If a deal didn't go as planned or the item is not what it should be, then leave it in "The Feed Back Fourm." 2. As a member, if you choose to sell items on multiple forums (Craig's list, MASC, etc), then do so with respect and etiquette. Please communicate appropriately and respectfully to the members.

As a member, if you have ideas and suggestions on improvements to the forum, please post in the Idea Thread or the Feedback Forum. It is not appropriate to post forum complaints in other threads.

Look, this goes for all of us,, myself included. If we don't stop the petty stupid fighting and arguing, we will NEVER be a successful club and will NEVER get a national event like MCNA! Additionally, we will never receive quality reconition national/international opportunities to host an event like this. I want MACNA and events like REEF ED to come back to Denver, but that will never happen if we don't change are ways (perceptions, communication, and negativity). I know that we are being watched by many National Events that would love to hold events with us or at least in Denver. Trust me, several years ago while watching the boards there was so much negativity and complaining that things did not go well for us.

Please, lets work together and help each other in this hobby that we love! I have seen too many good people leave and I would to love to get some of them back, I know of a few that keep an eye on us but will not come back because of the issues that I have mentioned!

Also, a good member will support the BOD, you don't have to always agree with them, but support them!

Remember this is a hobby first and a club second! "THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN!"

Thanks, and Happy Reefing! :D

Well said. The arguing and constantly putting people down is driving me away from the forum and this place is great! So thanks!

Martin and I have a great friendship that I wish I could have with others. Martin needs something and I have it, I will tell him come get it. Martin does the same for me. No money no trade just simply because we are friends. Jerry, Andrew,Chad are others that I do this with as well. I wish I could do this with the whole club. So I agree with Martin 100%

Being a new comer to this Hobby and as a result this forum, I have to say that the majority of people have been extremely helpful. However, there have been people who are not so helpful and have been disingenuous (IMO). I try to find the good in people and I'm more than happy to go out of my way for others, but I think some of the negative experiences have put people on guard. Perhaps the club/communities trusting nature has been taken advantage of by others, who do not have the same level of commitment to the club members.

I agree it is a hobby and it is meant to be fun. This is a great forum and the club members as a whole have been outstanding individuals.

I agree, this is a great group of people and I, for one, am tired of the negative. Let's concentrate on the positive. There are a TON of helpful
people in this group and that's why I joined in the first place. I have problems with this hobby that I don't even have to ask about because I'll
find a thread where someone has already asked that question and learn from it.

Thank you Martin, this thread is appreciated. Let's have fun and help one another.

Well said Martin. We didn't win MACNA but still have a couple of big events this year. We have reefstock next week and some great meetings coming later in the year. So lets all work together to make these upcoming events rocking.

MASC is a great asset to our community so lets keep things about reefing and moving together to have the best club around!!

I've thought a few times about dropping my account during flare ups. Glad I didn't, but did think about it. Great community overall and a great hobby. Thanks everyone for the positive comments.

We should circle up and sing Kumbaya.

JK! Well put, Martin. It's easy to lose focus with all the drama going on. There's always gonna be a few bad eggs, but we don't have to let them ruin breakfast.

If life gives you lemons, paint that **** gold! Name of one of my favorite albums and no doubt a good motto to live by. I try to look at things that go bad or wrong as not only a learning experience but the possibility for another oppertunity. For example, instead of whining and complaining that so and so sold the skimmer you were going to buy and they said they would hold it, look at it as another oppertunity to find something better and possibly cheaper, or, so you bought a crappy coral from someone and feel like you got screwed, never do business with that individual again, grow it out, DBTC it to a few people who would love to have it and feel better about the whole thing. You have the ability to turn a bad experience into a positive event, based on how you let the outcome affect you. Is the glass half empty or half full?

Im done ranting now. :)

Well said Martin. Along with Brian I've considered dropping the forum a lot lately. We all need to remember that everybody is human, and we make mistakes. There is no need to blow up the forum. PM the member and if you can't come to an agreement, ask either a BoD member or a member you both trust to moderate and help work out the situation.

I'm looking forward the ReefStock, and the other meetings we have coming up. Let's get this board back to being oneof the best in the nation

no macna!!?? dang I thought we had it locked up bummer well maybe 2015!!
Yep, no macna, and I believe we were in the running for it, when things kept blowing up on the forum. Members must know that we are being watched! From Vendors to event organizers.

I just hope that we all can get back to where this club once stood...........greatness!

hmmmm, I must be skipping a lot of threads because I haven't seen the forums blow up. A few years ago it was
bad but I thought we were being pretty mild.
