Ok so as I mentioned in my Little Green Jerk post I mentioned that the Emerald crab I had was systematically mowing through my Euphyllia that I bought from Gonzo
Purple Wall Hammer and a little bit of my Two headed torch....so I got rid of him
My question: I thought one of the heads on the torch would make it after some very minor picking by the Emerald but as of yesterday the one head is starting to close up and I noticed additional tissue recession. Now, I do not see signs of Brown Jelly or anything like that so all I can think is that it was damage from the crab...BUT again not really sure the crab was even bothering the torch....he usually just hung upside down on it. I never saw him pick at it specifically.
The torch receives pretty decent alternating flow from my MP10 but its not too intense because the other head is still thriving. Someone mentioned that higher flow could damage the torch...is this true? The 2 headed Frogspawn right next to it is thriving and so is the other head of the torch so what could be causing this tissue recession?
My param's are stable
Salinity 1.024
PH 7.89 - 8.18
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
Alk 8-9 DKH
Calcium 490+
PO4 Low ( Waiting on a Hanna Tester currently have API and its unclear)
Magnesium is unknown
I do not currently dose anything but I do a 20-25% water change every Wednesday and I run carbon, filter floss and Purigen as well as a fuge with Cheato & Red Macro.
Everything else in the tank is doing very well! What the hell is causing my Euphyllia to slowly die?? I see no worms, crabs or other inverts bothering it ...other than the former Emerald. No corals are stingin it! Is it possible that the hammer that was killed spread some kind of infection to the one head of the torch...they were touching at some point?
My last question: Should I wait it out or should I saw/break off the bad head before it spreads some kind of infection as it dies? I dipped the hammer and that didnt work...it actually got worse so I'm afraid to dip this guy because the other head is doing great?!
If I should break off the "bad head" is it ok for it to be done out of water for a few minutes??
Here are some pics? I'm totally lost on this one! Everything in the tank is thriving! I've researched everything...but nothing makes sense?
Thanks everyone! Plz help me solve Unsolved Mystery
