Due to my ridiculously busy schedule and a new project at work my tank maintenance has gotten behind a bit. I have some algae issues mainly turf algae, Gelidium or Red Wiry Turf Algae and some annoying bubble algae hear and there. Oh and did I mention I have a little bit of pinkish cotton candy algae. Its all mainly on two flat rocks in the front that have most of zoas and acans as well as on the sand. I'd like to try the natural approach first with a decent sized Emerald who's a fat algae eating pig. Next step will be removing the rocks altogether if I cannot control within a couple weeks...I just dont want to lose the zoas if I dont have too.

So can anyone help me out? I need a proven algae eating Emerald. Ones from the LFS seem to get bored quickly and lose their purpose. Thoughts, suggestions. Thanks Ladies & Gents

I have never had one from the Florida Keys that did not destroy algae.... but so-so from other places in the Caribbean, like Mexico, that just want to scavenge for detritus. If you end up having to get some from the store, then ask them where they got them, but don't lead the witness... "Where did you get the Emeralds?" can wield a different answer than "Are the Emeralds from the Florida Keys?"

I have had them to where they will leave certain types an only get back to that kind after they have ate everything else.
