what is recommended for a 40g breeder? i was hoping it'll be cheaper than amazon. currently amazon has 97" x 1" for $40 but no tax and free shipping for prime.

What are you trying to make? I assume a light stand of some sort but who knows If its a light rack I would assume the 1" would be fine but you might want to PM Nick @ Ambrosio as he would prob have pretty good idea on what size you need based on what light.
I would honestly buy it from Grainger locally ($37.45 + a few bucks in tax) to make sure you get all the right fittings and such that you need. Unless of course you know for sure what you are going to need and you are willing to wait until next week then you might as well just order from Amazon.
I know you were looking for local but I've bought my supplies from an 8020 site on eBay. The shipping is pretty fast and relatively cheep if you have an Amazon Prime account. Without discounted shipping it gets expensive quick.

I quickly realized, that comment about discounted shipping makes no sense....Ebay doesn't care about your Amazon Prime account. It's been a long day. Anyway, I always seem to get discounted shipping on items from that site. Good luck. I saw that same BRS video and noticed the stand. I've been planning on trying to do the math to calculate the deflection of the material for a stand I'd like to build myself. They have specs for the various thicknesses, but I've never sat down to put it all together.
Theres a dealer in denver, i think it was fierro fluid power. They stock alot of the basic parts. The stuff is handy but not cheap, i used the 15 series smooth, holding a 65gallon and 40 sump.
