Has anyone seen an atlantic blue tang for sale lately? Any local vendors have them, or better yet you have one in your tank that you'd like to sell to make room for something else? If so, please let me know. I'd be happy to take it off your hands.

Yeah, they do. For $100! Y'all up north need to school some of your stores on what fair market value is for what they're selling. I wanted to laugh out loud. Imma order one from liveaquaria for $40 instead (thanks Khalis, for the heads up!). Now I just need to find enough other fish that I want so I can get free shipping...

;)

If you're close but can't quite hit the mark for free shipping...let me know. I haven't had anything jump out at me, but I'll take another look for a couple fish on my list and could go in on an order if you're interested.

Yeah. Seriously. They had a purple tang on sale for $200, down from $300, and it was flashing. When the hovering & eavesdropping salesguy overheard us talking about it, his unasked-for response was, "It shouldn't be. We've had it in that tank for a year, so it should be fine." We watched it for a few more minutes, and it was definitely flashing, but he kept talking about how healthy it was because it'd been in that tank for a year. The tank it was in was your standard holding tank - entirely too small. I was somewhat impressed with the fact that the tang wasn't completely covered in ich.
I was somewhat less impressed with the salesguy.

Post a review on google reviews. If they get enough bad reviews they might figure somthing out.

You can have as many as you want as long as they are all juvenile and introduced at the same time.

They are very peaceful for tangs. You might need 2. They are kinda delicate at first, but if they make it a month, they are rock solid.

You are going to QT these, right? They are one of the worst tangs with getting stressed and showing disease.

I know that it is too late, but I like to get these from reeftopia.com when I get peppermints and snails. They catch them themselves and they always are super healthy.

They'll go in the frag tank we just set up that's connected to our system, so they can adjust to our water without other fish messing with them. It's gonna be a tang-heavy tank, so my plan is just keep them healthy so ich doesn't do much harm. I know it'll always be there, but it doesn't cause a problem unless the fish is stressed or unhealthy. I feed nori and garlic so heavily that it's like my mom is Italian and my dad is Japanese.

Nori and garlic is a good start but is not enough, IMO. Get them eating NLS pellets before you turn them loose with the rest of the tank. Vitamin A, E, spirulina and the other good stuff that they put in there really helps to keep disease down too, including HLLE, flashing and all of that.

I will also warn you that large tangs can/will eat coral. You can literally come home one day and hundreds of your polyps or most of your acans can be gone. Here is a shot of about half my FO from a few years ago - the island of misfit tangs. The black, 2 of the purples, the PBT, hippo, yellow, atlantic blue and definitely the sailfin all ate coral and were donations from other ****ed off reefers. The chocolate, the flagfin (amazingly) and one of the purples did not eat any coral. The Huma-huma was more coral safe than the tangs.

Here are a few more teasers since I dug my album up - these were fine in my reef.
Black x Scopas

Achilles x Goldrim

None of these fish had any issues with disease (including the hippo) and fish came and went out of this tank all the time. I fed about 50% NLS Pellets, and then equal parts of nori, formula 2 pellets and PE Mysis (I think that the off-brand kind is near worthless). If you don't feed them enough, then they can get sick too.

Sorry for the novel.
