Oh yea. I'm in Westminster, but will drive just about anywhere in the metro area if the price is right,.

Need dry as I don't want to cause a cycle in my tank by adding live.

You may actually see a cycle adding dry rock. The whole cycle process is the bacteria and "bugs" colonizing the new areas (sand or rock).

You might look to add cycled live rock to avoid a cycle. If the amount of rock you are adding is minor compared to the existing quantity of rock I doubt if you would see much of an impact either way. HTH.

So it would be better to buy live rock from a LFS that has been in their tank for a while? I live right by Elite and they have a big tank of live rock that has some nice looking pieces.

Yeah adding live rock you may get some die off but overall that would be how I would approach the situation.

What are your tank inhabitants, how much LR do you have now and tank size.

These would also play ino the decision if it were me. If I had a bunch of stuff I didn't want to risk I would go slow anad add few pieces every other week until it was where I liked it, but if there was not a bunch of delicate livestock then I might add the total new rock all at once.

I have a small clown, cardinal, emerald crab, snails and hermits. Also have a hammer, an acan frag, some zoas, and a kenya tree. I could probably add a little at a time, but have some new frags to pick up from Wicked Demon. Guess most of those could sit on the bottom until I get all the rock added and my LED's installed. Guess a little at a time makes the most sense.

That's what I would do. If you have trouble finding any lmk.

I have some that I'm planning on using sometime in the future but I could replace it over time and as I build a new tank (some day).

Good luck.

Elite frequently has great "live" rock. I got a NICE shelf piece for my nano a few months back that was the aquacultured kind. Pretty much guaranteed to be pest free but the benefit of being live/seeded. Worked great for my additional rock I was looking for.
