As the title states, putting together a 72 gallon 4 foot tank and looking for sps capable LEDs. Looking to spend between $300 and $600 depending on the light, age, condition, etc. I'm not in a big hurry, got to put in a wood floor under the tank before I fill it.

If anyone is looking to get rid of something please let me know. If anyone has lighting recommendations for this tank id like to hear em.

I been running t5s on my 72g bowfront. Got the 4 bulb retrofit kit with LET reflectors and they work great. SPS, clam and everything else grow great under them. Havent tried LEDs on it though, since the t5s do so well.

Do you have an aquarium controller? Makes a difference on recommendations.

My recommendation would be 2 dimmable onyx fixtures by rapidled. I use 4 of these on my 125 and growth is spectacular. They go for about $300 each, and have a 2 year full replacement warranty and a $75 replacement for the following 3 years. If you email them, they will give you a 10% to 20% off coupon code.

Another option in that price range is to get apex ready reef radiance fixtures. They dont grow as well but are around $200 each (you would need 2 or 3).

I thought about t5s, especially because you can pick up 48" fixtures for pretty cheap. I like LEDs mostly because you never have to replace bulbs.

Thanks for all your input Jonathan, I really appreciate it. Do you know if aqua illumination lights are compatible? I know reef angle sells an ai cable.

It does work with the AI SOL. Not sure about their newer fixtures.

I have one Hydra 52 left with the director. 3 foot spread and used 4 months. Let me know! I also have a 3 foot long blue/white LED I grabbed from Ambrosio a while back I would sell for $200.
