Kessil a350w are on sale and they are great for everything. I am thinking about going back to a kessil for my new tank.

EBay 165w dimmable full spectrum for 113.99 free shipping. For the size of tank you have all of these options are overkill imo

An led is an led, its the options that you really pay for. Do you want/need thunderstorms and sun up sun down controller or are you just looking for an led that will grow everything the others will but at a price much less? Don't get me wrong you will not regret the radion g2 pro or hydra but it cones down to how much do you want to spend on a 30g tank. I have a 30g im fusion nano tank that I will be putting two hydras over because my wife wants thunderstorms....its her tank and I will always support her doing anything with my hobby.

But to what I just said if it were up to me I would get two eBay lights lol just because I'd rather spend the money on fish and corals.

An LED is not an LED... Thats like saying a skimmer is a skimmer just because it makes bubbles. I agree you would probably be just fine with a Chinese LED, I have a couple of them myself, and bought them because they would work for what I want. High end LED's though, are more than a lightning effect. High end t5's might use the same bulb, but its the reflectors, ballasts, and build quality that your paying for.

Your not paying for a name, your paying for the quality that some names have the ability to produce. You may not want the quality that comes at that price point, but your also not comparing apples to apples.

I agree that you're paying for a name ultimately... But with that name comes support as well. Its like the jabeo thing... They may have a guarantee but getting the replacement could be a hassle... I'm getting two of the very same Chinese LEDs Levi mentioned for my 100 gallon upgrade... Willing to bet I grow the same as high end LEDs and the product lasts just as long

This thread made me laugh. A LED is not a LED. Phillips is not the same as Bridgelux is not the same as Cree. Pulse modulation is not the same in each dimming technique - this is huge and most people don't even know what it is. I might argue that outside of a Pacific Sun that actually does research and development and are making strides to get LED as good as halide or fluorescent, that the rest only are the same in that they are not even close to the same.

The subtle differences in a little extra par don't steer me towards a purchase I'm gonna always go after the best deal and the 400 dollar fixtures don't do enough extra for me to justify when I can get panels for 100 bucks.
