Hey guys, I have a skimmer that keeps giving me problems and doesn't run regularly (keeps stopping). I am looking for a new skimmer that won't break the bank. Would like something $100 or less and used is just fine for me as long as it works just fine.

I have about an 11x11 footprint area but a HOB would be preferred. My tank is 65g and my sump about another 20g. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Have you tried soaking your old skimmer in vinegar and giving it a good scrub? That can do wonders for a skimmer especially if its giving you problems

Yeah, before I bought it used, it had been cleaned with vinegar, I have since cleaned it multiple times....too many for it to get gunked up. Something is wrong inside. If my power cuts out it will stop skimming. The pump is still pumping, just no skimmate. I have to take it completely apart and put it back together for it to work correctly again. Not sure why, no kinked hoses, pump is pumping, all seems fine, but it's not. Now, the water fizzes like it used to, but nothing at all for two weeks.

My guess would be that your venturi (air intake nozle) is clogged, or air is otherwise restricted. Needle files, toothpicks, and drill bits could help clear an airway.
