I'm looking for a small styro lined shipping box for coral. A small one to me is 10" cube or smaller. I know a lot of LFS have big ones they would gladly give away, but I'm shipping corals to my brother so not sending him my whole tank :). U-line sells good ones and would go that route if no one has any to part with at a reasonable price or trade.

do you calk or tape the seems or just fit them in the best you can? With heat packs, I've read that when the box is all sealed up, it uses all the O2 and keeps the heat in. I'm concerenced if there are four sides from me cutting and fitting it, air will get in to either make some parts cold, and other parts really hot since O2 will keep the heat pad going. Not sure if this would be the same for cold packs in the summer.... but I'd ship these to him next week if the weather looks good between here and Ohio. I've done a lot of reading on R2R and RC so I know about tripple bagging and have some good bags laying around.

you should be fine with just the foam liner. I used to ship dwarf FW shrimp in USPS priority boxes that way and never had an issue with them being DOA. Just cut them like you would cut glass for a tank and have them create a tight seam at the edges. As far as cold air creeping in...not really an issue if you cram the foam in there well enough. Even if the foam isn't sealed, there should be any cold air moving through there as the outer box would prevent drafts...just tape it up well and you're good to go.

edit: If you still would prefer an actual foam cooler in a box, I do have one available, it's 8x9x9. I live in NW Denver though, dunno if that's worth the trip or not.
