Acrylic safe magnetic scraper

I was just wondering if there are certain scrapers out there that people actually trust to not scrape their acrylic? I have been using an old credit card but that is such a hassle but I’m so paranoid about scrapes. This is why I didn’t want to go with acrylic but here I am with an acrylic tank. I realize a lot of the issues come from things like sand grain getting stuck in them but that’s not always the case. Anyway let me know what you use and you experience with it if you could please.

Actually, the best thing available is a Dobie Pad (no not the Brothers!) from Scotch Brite. You can find them at any supermarket. Cut open one end of the Dobie and remove the sponge, take the remaining plastic mesh and place your wet end of the magnet inside. You can now safely clean your acrylic. Sand will fall out of the mesh and the plastic has enough scouring power to clean off the plex but not enough to scratch. It's basically plastic on plastic. Works great.

If you have a stubborn spot, remove the magnet and place the plastic mesh over your fingers. Voila, safe scrubbing for plex tanks!

Kudo's to Cris Capp for introducing me to this idea.

Excellent idea. I've been using Dobie pads for years but never thought to put it over the magnet hehe.
