Can anybody that purchased the evo 120's that mounted them in a canopy show me how they did it and if the gold wire holders at the top can be removed?

At work so cant show pics, but can answer. One of my lil brass pieces was loose so I popped it open to tighten it, which broke the sticker seal for the warranty. But yes they come out.
I mounted mine on top of my canopy to make the height adjustable.
I used the brass fittings kind of weird. I made a boxed frame from 1x2s slightly larger than the lights and used an Lbracket with 2 holes in it. Mounted 4 of those on the frame I made, then took cut two pieces of threaded rod and ran it between the brass fittings. The height can be adjusted about 4 inches more if u use larger brackets.
Mine were the 2in ones. You can use either hole to go higher and to go lower I just flipped the brackets to point down into the tank.
It is sturdy as hell and if ur canopy has thicker wood on top than mine did u wouldnt need the frame. I like the frame so I can take off everything in pieces. Lights, lid, then full canopy.

Do the brass hangers thread out? Or do you have to void the warranty to remove them?

If it voids the warranty as Reef koi if you can cut them off with a dremel. Or just cut them off...lol

I'm not really worried about them being in the way but if they thread out it will make mounting them a breeze!

Same screws. No issues with them backing out, nice and secure with that many brackets. I have those on a 110g reef. My canopy is no where near tall enough for how they're mounted right now. So I have spotlight/spread issues. Its standard depth, 24".
