Anybody use a squid?

I have a 120 that I'm getting ready to setup. It's got two returns and 2 drains. I'm considering using one return pump and having that run to a squid which alternate flow between the two return lines.
Is this a good idea or should I use two return pumps?

They used to jam a lot causing problems. I am not sure if they still do.

IMO don't use one and just wavemakers for your radom flow.

I ran one on the 225 before the transition to the 360 worked great for about 9 months then started to clog. If you do one work in an alternate route controlled by valves to go around the SQD so up you can pull it soak in vinegar and clean it this way you don't have to shut down your main pump to service it.

keep posting these. Other people's input helps as well.

If you do decide to use one. Use unions on each input and as Mike said, have a bypass option as well so you can clean the SCWQ every few months.

They really limit flow and they don't last.

If you like the idea, then look at a Ocean Motion device - higher quality, but higher price.

Just so you know I didn't use it again as it was too much trouble.
