I have installed them for 6 years, they are fantastic so long as they are installed correctly. If you dont like the look or want to setup the whole house to run on one they make styles that hook directly to you HVAC duct work. They are not easy to install but if you have patience and are willing to read alot of how to's online you can learn, be sure to check for codes within your local municipality, many city's have codes regulating what draft pipes to use and how they must be installed. Also some homeowners insurances will not cover damage as a result of the homeowner installing it incorrectly. I think overall they are awesome, the larger ones can heat 1600+ sf for 4$ a day.

I wanted to put one in our basement, but i didn't like the look of the flu that would need to pass through the wall and up the side of the house. I had hoped they could use a flu like the small square things that gas fireplaces used.

I will say that i have a pellet smoker and love how simple it is to smoke meats.

I had to look up what a pellet stove was according to Wikipedia, you could be eligible for a 30% tax break for the energy savings!! Pretty cool!!

Might be possible to put it behind the wall, depends on location and design. Rule of thumb for pipe is 75.00 per foot for tripple wall (required in boulder and weld counties) just give me a shout and i can show ya hiw

Im a dealer for Pellet Stoves amungst many other things, they are great in all aspects except maintenence IMO. Maintenence on them can be quite expensive if not done regularly and properly.

Just considering a pellet stove at the moment, when I need anything else though I will keep "the other things in mind". lol Would you recommend something else then for my basement. I basically just want it so when I disappear on a Sunday on a cold winter day to watch football all day I can crank that baby up and be nice and toasty all day. Or like when I have company as there is a spare bedroom down there. It will not be used to heat the house or used on a daily basis.

A pellett stove would work great, just keep up on it and you wont have any issues. I reccomend Vermont Castings or Majestic Hearth products. Majestic is local to Denver where as youd have to find a local dealer for Vermont Castings.

Very cool, thank you sir. Saving for drywall and a few other things at the moment. Will hopefully be ready for one in the next couple months pending my budget. I know they are a bit pricey.
