I had one and it did a great job on aiptasia....then when it was all gone started eating zoa colonies. I ordered him from Live Aquaria. Just for what it is worth I guess....hopefully someone will have one cause they are actually pretty cool fish. MASC should have a "loaner"!

I am expecting to have to get rid of him once aptasia are gone. But i just want aptasia gone.

I had one that did not touch any coral... and did not eat any aiptasia either. I was really bummed, but the Peppermints stepped up their game.

Here is my standard spiel on peppermints, so my apologies if you have heard it... First, where you get them from matters... direct from the Flordia Keys for L. Wurdmundi are the best... the others are suspect... so if you get them from a wholesaler or store that might have gotten them from Texas, Miami or Tampa, then they might not be as good. They also will tend to eat the ones in hiding first since they hate to really come out... once all of the easy ones are gone, they will usually tackle the ones that you can see and hate. They will not tackle big ones, so kalk those... I have never seen this, but heard that they can be eaten by larger aips. Usually when I get a stable group of peppermints, I will nuke all of the ones that I can see with kalk and then they seem to clean up the rest. Then I have a good 3ish years until they all die of old age and then the aips start to grow in numbers and I have to order a new set of them and start all over again.

I would caution anybody never to get rid of a fish or peppermints that actually do eat aips... they always come back once you get rid of the consumers since they can hide out like cockroaches.

Great info. I know ive read it before but still good to reread. I wish I knew the source of my peppermint shrimp but don't. I don't have a crqzy bad infestation yet but im trying to get on top of it. I hope they are eating the ones I cannousee but who knows. I tried aptasia x to no success.

The peps we are getting in our group buy are from Florida -- back in Boston I used to drop my colonies or frags with aiptasia into the peppermint shrimp holding tank, and watched them devour it to bits! What a satisfaction feeling

Just wanted to throw it out the incase you wanted to try some!

You can order direct from divers in the Keys. They supply places like reefcleaners, BRS, sea dwelling, etc., but will also sell direct to the public. There are a handful of places that do this.
