So today we took tinkerbell to the vet (our little black dog), and now she is going in for surgery tomorrow. We discovered a lump on her side on saturday about the size of a golf ball, and yesterday during the meeting we were shocked to see it swelled up to about the size of a softball. So we took her in and they did a biopsy. It isnt cancer or a baterial infection. But they did drain about 100Ml of fluid from the spot, and found a hard mass under the skin. Within about an hour it filled up completly with fluid once more, and even the vet is stumped about what it could be. So the only option is to open her up and remove the mass and send it off for a further biopsy to a lab. Was kinda surprised though since the surgery will only cost about $800. But still one more thing to have to worry about.

And then when we got home I noticed a Diatom outbreak on my sand bed. Pretty sure its associated with the switch over to the LED's. Will keep an eye on it, but hope its not gonna become a bigger problem. Gonna have my hands full the next few days. Will dose some MB7 tonight and maybe pick up a couple sand sifting starfish this weekend, and a few more hermits. The bananna wrase is helping me move the sand around though...love that little guy. Pretty sure the clam hates him though...keep looking at him and he has traces of sand all over his mantle. Lol

Damn that sucks, hope every thing turns out ok. One of ours was attacked by a coyote just before labor day, luckily she has almost fully recovered.

dang that is horrible news. Has it got into a fight with a cat? Cat spit is super nasty and can cause mega swelling like that. My cat got his butt kicked by another cat and the small wound turned into a huge puss ball within a day.

Make sure she keeps her "cone of shame" on after the surgery, dogs are great about pulling out stitches. No matter what Tinkerbell tells you, she will lick them out!

good alternative to the cone of shame is the kong "floatation device" (not actually a floaty).

The vet told us to just put her in an old tshirt instead of using the cone, cause it will help absorb any liquid draining so it wont stain the carpet.
