Trying to get a Yellowtail Damsel out of a tank. What is the best type of fish trap? Has anyone had success trapping on of these ****ers? Does the soda bottle trap work? :wall:

Soda bottle trap works pretty good it can just take a little patience.

I would say whatever he is used to eating. It can get frustrating if you catch every fish but the one you want:) Also a little garlic on the food might entice him to swim in.

The soda bottle works great to catch all the other fish several times before you get the one you want.

A year ago, I had the similar experience with one of the fish, nipping on every coral in my tank.
Lost few nice corals too, finally made a trap with empty plastic spinach box with a manual trap door made of acrylic sheet and a string.
Starved the fish for few days and dropped the box with some food, bingo - dropped the trap door when the fish I wanted entered the box to take a bite.

I've always wanted to try the hook but I really hope I never have to.

I don't know how big your tank is but you could also consider the drain method if it's small enough...drain the entire tank into buckets, grab the fish, pump all the water back in.

Nice bikes BTW. I want a townie-type fixie in my quiver someday.

I notice that you're also in Fort Collins. Do you know Chris Johnson perchance? He does a lot of bicycle advocacy up there.
