I used the clear plastic from BRS. It had smaller holes than the bird netting (I'm assuming that's what you're referring to from HD, as regular screen would rust), and did not noticeably block light. I did get the regular screen frames, corners, etc, from HD and used those to stretch the clear plastic screen. It worked perfectly.

that would block way too much light, and I think it's metal (I could be wrong), which means rust.

What about the black screen like thenone the sell for screen doors ?
Baaaad idea, it's hard to find the ones that aren't treated for bugs and then they are metal.
BRS is great, I've made multiple screen tops w it, they have clear and black. I've used both w good success.

I agree with the others on the screening from BRS as I could find it anywhere else. The rest of the supplies from Home Depot. So easy even a "girl" can do it. lol

If you want, get the frame materials, make them to fit and them come over. I have more then enough extra for that.

Awesome, aren't they?
I had little knobs on mine to help lift them up for feeding, etc. Saved a lot of hassle.

What did you do for the knobs? I've been thinking of adding something like that to mine. Did you just glue them on?
