Clowns and Nems!

I've had a rainbow BTA in my tank for over a year.

And my clowns never hosted it I've picked up a Rose BTA on Friday and one of my clowns was hosting it in about an hour granted its a little small but my clown is hosting it for sure

And yesterday I pick up another Rose BTA which is a very dark red (very cool)

And my other clown started hosting that one in no time.
My question is have other people noticed it taking a very long time for clowns to host unique colored anemones or never hosting them at all?

Clowns know what they want! Before I knew better, I got a Condy for my clowns, and they never hosted it. I found out way later that a Condy is one of the nems never see in the wild, and Condys can actually eat clowns. My clowns now host my Xenia colony, and have been happy there for over 6 months!!

I have rbta rainbow and sunburst anemones and my clowns go into all of them! Sounds like yours might be picky!0

They suck on the tentacles to acclimate themselves to the sting of the anemone and their slime coating adapts to protect them from the sting. It is a really funny behavior, my clowns used to do it when they first started hosting their BTA. They would just sit there all day with a tentacle in their mouth, lol

I have a Sebae, green bta, rainbow bta, and rosa bta. 4 clowns (2 B&W, 2 ocellaris) and they all host the anemones, swimming from one to the next.

My clowns host a goniapora, it was really ****ed at first and then got used to them.

I was telling a buddy today (David syntheticocean) about my weird clown and like a good reefer he looked it up when he got home and called me and said that it is called true hosting and thats how they clean the nem! Thought that was really cool!

Travis, mine have only hosted in my welso brain but i have never given them a anem. go figure
