Do you know the root cause? How old is the setup? Do you have aragonite sand? Are you skimming enough?

Be sure you turn your skimmer off if you use the chemi clean.

I haven't really found what could be the root cause. I'm beginning to think that my cuc needs to be replenished but I still have most of what I added to begin with. I am trying to get my hands on a conch for my sandbed. I skim constantly an it's a pretty wet skim compared to what a lot of people prefer. I have stopped using filter floss other then after I feed to catch any excess food goin into the returns.

Well I think I have eliminated everything that I can think of that could be a source for the cyano and it is getting worse. I have cut back even more on feedings. Done more water changes and manually removed it and it's not getting any better. I haven't gotten a chance to get the red slime remover but I guess that is the next step. Any other ideas?

the red slime remover will remove it. It will come back if you haven't eliminated the source. Use it and continue the new feeding and wc routine and hope for the best. in the short term you can use a small amount of gfo. Also, If not already mentioned, water movement can really help. Look at that as a possible contributing factor. Good luck. These things ae a pita when they creep up on you and are really hard to turn around. It will happen though. Nothing good happens fast as they say.
