Drilling rock

I'm going to make a structure for the new tank. So I'm going to be drilling the rock. I've researched a little, sounds like I need to drill dense rock with a hardened masonry bit and slight constant pressure. I've done this before and ended up breaking the rock, not what I want to do. Do you guys have any tips on drilling? Where can I get the acrylic rods? I've got the aquamend already.

If you can get a drill press that would work the best. Are you drilling live rock? If so you can probably get away with any drill bit as live rock is so soft, but a masonary bit would probably work best.

Just turn down the tourqe setting really low. I avoid masonry bits cause they are usually dull and work better on hammer drills. A good metal bit works good...just take breaks to avoid over heating. Fiberglass rods also work better cause the flex slightly and wont crack.

Yeah it hits and spins at the same time. You can buy manual masonary bits that's you hit and spin , but don't hit it too hard, or just use your blender ;)
