Well I took the plunge and got me an ro unit. Super excited to not have to run to the store when ever I need water.

I never really read the threads on the best salt as it did not matter to me, but now it does.

So I am asking you all now what salt you like and why? I would like to know what kind of tank you are running if possible to help me choose in the long run.

I have a 29 gallon cube with a mixed reef, ranging from the most common zoa to SPS, I am adding more SPS as the days go by as I trade places with with my older stuff. I have been dosing with BW A&B to make sure I have get the right amount of calcium for coral growth.

Thanks for your input and options.

congrats ...to me salt is a gimmick i use salinity now because i won it
i used to use coral life because i think it had excellent numbers for the price but cant find anyone that sells it now
after seeing premier and AA run sales on kent salt recently i am assuming that is what the use on their commercial accounts so im considering using that next

i willl never use RC again

I like Salinity. Same reason. It mixes up perfectly. Most other salts mix at 1.021, so it takes more salt to get it to where you want. So you use the salt faster.
I get about 240 gallons from a bucket of salinity for $75. I do a 40 gallon water change a week. So this 1 bucket lasts me 6 weeks, which averages to about $12 a week in salt. Instant Ocean costs me about $15 a week.

thats not really apples for apples ....your IO price is MAP ...your salinity price is a better price than has ever been offered before

Think keys sells half buckets, might buy one of them first. Since I only have a 29 gallon, it should last me a long time.

its definitely a "better salt" but is it worth twice as much as the cheapest salt i doubt it

think about it if it was truly a superior salt would seachem limit it to the LFS only? ..of course not, it would only hurt them ..its just a gimmick to bring customers to the LFS ...good intentions but its only temporary

It's not twice as much, it's the other guys misinfo unless you mix at 1.021.

A little less than 2 cups per 5 gallons gets you to 1.026. It will last you a very long time. It mixes cloudy so let it sit overnight to clear or you can use a pump and hyper mix it. Usually will clear up in 30-60 minutes then. Hope that helps.
