fish in the overflow...

So I was wondering if there is a product or if there are any precautions to be made to keep fish out of the overflow? I use a 1/4 inch netting top on my aquarium and this thing is not exactly heavy. Anyway I have a big strong wrasse that likes to jump out of the water several times a day and slam into it. Last night the wrasse jumped, moved the net enough and got stuck on the overflow, splashed around like crazy and ended up in the overflow... I got him out but this is roughly the 8th time in a month. Does nobody else go through this? I have never seen a thread about this but what are some of you doing to prevent this or does everyone just deal with trying to catch the fish out of the overflow? Mine is not easy to reach and I really don't ever want to do that again...

What if you attached some strong magnets to the netting frame? Might hold it in place enough without messing up aesthetics.

I use some of that plastic gutter mesh from home depot. Has 1/4" squares and is black. I trim it to about 4" height, line the inside of the overflow with it and have it come up to the height of the tank trim. I secure it to the overflow with some black zip ties into the overflow slats.

Believe it or not I am using the mesh that comes with some pizza deliveries to lift the crust off the bottom of the cardboard to allow for air flow. It is food safe, and has been working great. Best of all it was free, or at least included with a Pizza which I would have ordered anyway.

I think I got mine for Papa Johns, but not positive on that.

I was thinking of maybe finding some black acrylic and cutting it to fit over the top of the overflow. Kill two birds with one stone so to speak. No fish in the overflow and block light from it to keep algae out as well.
