Hi all!
Well, my fish family got decimated by oodinium (not ich, like I previously thought). I lost everything but my coris, 6 line, and 1 tiger goby. So we set up a 55 gallon QT tank, and I'm about to set up a second one. I want to collect all the new inhabitants and QT them for a month or so while the tank lies basically fallow. I picked up a pair of nearly naked clowns yesterday.
I want to hear suggestions from everyone on which fish to get. I'm starting basically from scratch, so there aren't any 'cohabitation' issues to work around.
I have a 180 gallon mixed reef (everything from leathers to SPS), a cleaner shrimp, a scarlet shrimp, and a sea slug. So please don't recommend fish that are going to gnosh on my corals, think my shrimp are tasty treats, or make fun of Herbert (the slug).

Now... GO!

you could always go with multiple mated pairs of gobi, hell... mated pairs of everything...what does your tank temp max out at during summer? have a chiller? there are a lot of really sweet cooler water species..

I really like the look of a school of firefish adds a lot of color and movement and no matter how big the tank is I think every tank needs a yellow clown goby!

hell ya, schools of anything are cool... blue eyed cardinals are will give a flash every time they turn, some anthias would also be cool....

Anthias are awsome IMO, just i lost all of mine due to a freak temp raise and then lower....

firefish disappear in my tank for reasons unknown. I never find red potato chips on the floor, but I've put about 15-20 of those things in my tank over time, and there are none now. I was considering doing a school of leopard wrasses, but I've read that those are 'expert only' fish. Might do a school of lyretail anthias instead, depending.

+1 for anthias. If I had a bigger tank I'd definitely be getting a school of sunbursts.

I also love leopard wrasses (if you have sand), squamipinnus anthias and chocolate tangs.

These are the only fish that i have ever had that were truly reef safe.

I love other tangs, Purple, Black and Gem especially, but they will nip and pick as they grow.

You might consider letting your tank sit fallow for 2 months - 1 might not be enough.

leopard or potters wrasses... i cant get enough of them, always active and get upset and splash water out the top of the tank when i move out of line of sight of the tank!

i cant suggest a clown goby, in my 75g i had a green and yellow and they disappeared in a matter of days, too big of a tank for them IMO, but if you have some low flow areas for them to perch it might be a good addition!

What a bummer Cindy, did Mikes tank get infected also.
He lost a copperband. Soooo glad we hadn't put his fancybutt clowns in it yet.

Lol! That's what it'll wind up being if I am left to my own devices. I like boring fish.
