Oh, he has already either given or sold the first set of healthy offspring off. I have no doubt that he has profited from this by now since this is his 2nd batch.

But someone drove the price up that high.... I guess supply and demand, but agree with everyone, these are mean fish.

if people have the cash and want something bad enough sky is the limit on how much things can cost. must be nice to be able to drop 4 or 10k on a fish, but hey, if you got it than why not

Going back to early in thread, are my maroons defective then since they don't bite and only the little one chases others away from his "spot"?

Didn't Mike have maroons in his 300? I witnessed them attack his hands like piranhas...and tried to shoo/beat them off of him with one of those grabber handles. Fish almost yanked the thing out of my hand!

Yea, no thanks on maroons here too. Beautiful fish...but psycho.

I do wish the seller would release this fish with a contract indicating it could NOT be bred/sold...but that of course won't happen. Irresponsible breeding practices have had a huge impact with purebred dogs...and I know people see a fish and may think no big deal...but it's pretty critical this early in a line to get things right. Of course there is no telling whether this fish's traits are recessive or dominant...but that's why you cull in the first place. :/
