Hello everyone. I am not sure if you will agree with me on this or not however this is driving me nuts. I know everyone wants to get a good deal and all but this is not Craigslist. I feel that most people on here are good people that are giving good deals. If you don't like the price then don't pay. Or if you are going to haggle don't do it on an open forum. At least shoot the guy a message. A lot of items are on here for half of what retail is and a lot if folks want to get it for free or trade when someone days they only want cash. All imam saying is be respectful of the sellers wishes. Nough said.

I dont see the constructive point to this post. Haggling is always going to be part of re sell, regardkess of where or how you do it. You never know if you dont ask. if your not interested in haggling than simply put firm price on your post.

Haggling prices

My point is in the open forum. Or calling people names because you don't want to sell for price someone offers it to you. Have a touch of class and a little tact.

Yes I agree. If I wanted to haggle I would put obo (or best offer) in my add. Im the type of person if you just give me what I ask you will go away with more than what you ever expected. Maybe not right then but I tend to give A LOT of stuff away.

A great post, Andrew!
If they put OBO on a listing, then by all means make an offer. But show an ounce of common sense and respect and don't try haggling someone down within hours of their post, or if they haven't indicated that haggling is welcomed. If it's been a couple of weeks and it still isn't sold yet, maybe then offer a lower price. Or ask if they're willing to come down a little. Not everyone is into haggling/negotiation. They have something they want to sell, and they agonize over how to price it. If you don't like the price they're asking, then just move on and find something that's priced at what you're willing to pay. If you can't find things priced your way, then maybe you're the one that needs to re-evaluate. Just because you only have $100 to spend is no reason to expect someone to accept less than fair value for what they're selling.
And I personally don't care if it's done via PM or in the post itself. Six of one, half dozen of the other. If it devolves into name-calling, low balling, and whatnot, that's ridiculous and unacceptable.

I agree with the name calling and getting upset. If your gonna try snd haggle dont get upset if the seller shoots you down.

I see no problem at all with making offers or haggling to an extent. But the line is crossed when it devolves into name calling and bickering. MASC, DARC and the Colorado Springs group are all close knit folks, so it is in poor taste to bicker and call names to people that you will certainly see at a meeting or event in the not so distant future! I say feel free to make a reasonable offer, if it is accepted, great, if declined, move on like the grown ups we are!

Id rather price things cheap than to worry about haggling...like Mike says... if you pay what I ask, i often include more to make you go away with a smile. If you call me names because I wont haggle, then I guess you wont buy anything from me...nuff said!

Exactly. For people like that, the price goes up, not down. And I might be inclined to make some snide remarks in your general direction afterwards.

In my opinion, all deal making should be in pm's.

So far I personally have received everything wayyyyy cheaper than retail so I have never had to do any haggling.

And Andrew I definitely agree, when being part of a club like this, everyone should be classy and be respectful to all.
