I just got my calcium and my "alpha" by aqua vitro confused. It removes chlorine, chloramines, and ammonia, as well detoxifies nitrate and nitrite. I added a full cap full 7mL into my tank instead of 1mL. I read the bottle and it doesn't have a warning about an over dose. Do I need to be concerned? immediate water change?

I would do a water change just to dilute what you added, then have a spare WC ready just incase you need another.

How big is the tank? Yeah...immediate 20% water change. Monitor the situation and do water changes accordingly. I squeezed a whole dropper of luguls in my 120g about 3 weeks ago when one of my dogs bumped into me. Did a 20% water change twice that week, and didnt lose a thing. Luguls is highly toxic in large doses...but your smart to ask questions and rectify the problem instead of taking the wait and see approach.

It is a 35 gallon. I'll get more water ready. I just completed one today already but I will get another batch going.

1 ML will treat 15 gallons, so its not a huge overdose. And on their website they say to detoxify nitrite...up to 4 times the dose is acceptable. Which would be about 9 1/3 Ml. So I would say to run carbon if you can. And do multiple smaller water changes. If it looks bad though, doing 1 large water change is the lesser of two evils.

Thanks for all the fast help. I have a carbon bag already in the sump, and I have water ready for a change as soon as it gets to temp.

Why not add fresh carbon? Also, in an emergency, you could always nuke some water to warm up your batch in a timely fashion.

Yes carbon was added. And I just jacked the temp of the thermometer in the water bucket to bring the temp up quick. Everything so far looks good. Actually corals look like they love all the new water.

Lol...i should have probably thrown this out earlier...but i almost always have about 50g of fresh heated RO on hand at any one time if there is an emergency. And soon my vats will be expanded to 100g of fresh and 50g salt. Was distracted earlier.
