So I have had this 12 gallon nano for eight years I had a major algae problem big time so I wanted to get a fresh start getting rid of some old live rock full of pallys and get rid of the old deep sand bed I was just wondering should I dump all the old live rock or just scrub it ?It's in saltwater and has a pump in it now while I clean up the Tank and wait for my new sand I have dome sponge ,ric's and leather on the old rock,I just don want the algae problem to come back as bad as it was before the break down

Old rock is the best! You can change out your sand. I'd look into your water source. RODI and new filters.

Older is way better. Cook it if you need to, but definitely save it. The more porous, the more effective it is.
