The first one looks like green star polyps or i think its called trumpet polyps? Its hard to tell from that first picturebut if it has a purple base then its GSP. The second pic looks like zoas that are starving for light! HTH

Thanks for the quick responses. I got the live rock from someone that had it in a tank with no lights on it. These just popped up after being in my tank for a little bit. The one does have a purple mat that goes with the rock that it is on. I hope they color up soon. Is there anything I can do to speed up that process and make the gsp grow more?

Take your time young grasshopper... those GSP will grow like a weed and when they do you will be asking us how to slow down there growth:)

Ah. We have a 50/50 bulb on our tank and we make sure the tank stays with 0 ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites. The ph is about 8.2. Is that good for them to color up?

Is that 1 pc bulb? how big is the tank? It should work for the GSP but those zoas might take awhile.

t5's are nice, a 4-6 bulb fixture would work. Its really up to your personal prefrence though, you should go look at a few diffrent tanks that have diffrent lighting(t5,halide,led) and see what look you like best. As far as lighting i like 4 watts per gallon. HTH

If you decide to go with t5's i might have a 8 bulb retrofit that would fit your tank if you decide to go that route. You could mount it under your canopy.

For that tank I would recommend the used T-5 Reefkoi is selling, $200 for a TEK 8 bulb, sweet deal on a solid light.

The retrofit needs a canopy to screw it to.

Oh well the light that Reefkoi was selling was sold last week. I'll just have to keep looking for something that isn't too terribly expensive. Thanks to everyone for all of your help! Everyone here is so helpful that's why I joined your site.
