About my avatar my grandfather was Adm Daniel Gallery.
He was the commander of the Task Group for the USS Guadalcanal and was responsible for the capture of the U505 along with the submarine's Enigma coding machine.
This allowed the US to read the German signals immediately, without having to break the codes first and that was the end to the war in the pacific and the wolf packs
