LED's - Getting some for Christmas but need help

So, my wife said I need to make a list of what equipment I need for my tank. I would love to change out of the MH and get an LED setup but don't know what to get.

My tank is an 11 gal tall and I have some SPS already in it.

Suggestions?

Are you looking at doing DIY or a pre-made unit? What is our spending cap? lol

For a small tank I would do a DIY if it was me.

If you are looking for just a pre made unit. I think Elite has a couple options.

You can get one of those UFO LEDs from Reefkoi but it may be too much light, you may have to keep it higher up.

40 to 50 watts of spread out led is good enough, but i bet you could get buy with even less.

i've used one of these before for my 8g with sps. 80 optics and 6" above water line. what's the dimension of your tank? maybe 60 optics will be better for 11g tall.

I like the spot lights but without a "prettier" way to attach them, my tank isn't coming out the basement.

Why not make a "plant" shelf above the tank and use a can light. If you did it right you could use dry wall and make it removable. Or a nice wood shelf/box with the can light....just an Idea for ya.:idea:
