Has anybody seen a smallish one-spot or magnificent foxface for sale anywhere nearby?

Or any other ideas for grazers that would be ok in a three foot long reef tank? Desperately in need of a grazer since my old foxface outgrew the tank and had to move to someplace bigger...

A fox face isn't a great idea in a 3ft long tank. They have similar space requirements to a yellow tang.

I would suggest a starry blenny or lawnmower blenny. The lawnmower is more effective, but I like the look of a starry better.

Thanks @zombie, I've had lawnmower blennies in the past and they seem to do ok with e.g. hair algae but just didn't do as good a job with valonia and some other pest algae as my foxface did. I got him when he was about two inches long and had him for quite a few years before he started getting too big for the tank, and I know I can rehome one when it eventually gets too big (if I haven't upsized my tank by then).

A combination of hermits, emeralds, and snails should take care of what a lawnmower would miss.

If you don’t Mind sending the fish off when they grow too large animal attraction in Greeley had a couple small Fox faces last time I was in. May be worth a call. Also, may be a good excuse to upgrade when the fish grows... always worked for me. Lol

I really liked my starry blenny. Not because it ate algae like you’re needing, but because it had a great personality. My kids named him gramps because they have bushy “eyebrows” and look grumpy.

Only when they are hiding though. Mine changes color all the time and it's pretty sweet. Goes from the gramps look, to night sky with yellow tail, and have even seen it turn completely white when the flame was getting in its face.
