sorry to hear about the tank wipeout...been there, done that...I see the Fenninator suggests longer fallow...google "wetwebmedia marine velvet"...Leaving the tank "fallow" (without fish hosts) for 6 to 8 weeks. This process can be sped up by elevating water temperature. A figure stated by Bower (1987) is perhaps 2 weeks at 35 C. (95 F.).
I'm reluctant to go up to 95, because of the corals in the tanks, but I'll definitely check out that article and see how long we need to go. I feel bad for the fish we've had sitting in QT tanks for a month already, but the 'test' run we did with a yellow tang proved that it's still there, which means the wrasses that survived the outbreak are carriers, even tho they show no signs of it at all.

my fallow tank lasted 9 weeks the only way to be sure I did a lot research and I was told form 14 days to 9 weeks I erred on the side of caution

I have opaka's fish trap but you would have to come get it just had surgery yesterday not feeling up to venturing out

No sweat- we can come get it. Surgery?? Hope nothing serious! Is there anything we can bring you to help with recovery?
